Dear John Doe:

My name is Sean Coyle and I am writing in response to your ad in the Phoenix Republic News.  For an IT Manager I know there is nobody better suited than me.
My experience as an IT professional has been shaped through diverse experiences.  I have gone from setting up security systems for major corporations to assisting the police in tracking down cyber terrorists.

Some other personal qualifications are; my capacity to quickly ascertain information and apply it to the real world, the enduring dedication I exude in everything that I am charged with, and my aptitude at empathizing, explaining and advising people in a friendly manner.

Thank you for your time and consideration to this matter I look forward to hearing from you soon.  Please feel free to contact me at (480) 388-6807 or at sean9294@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
Sean Coyle

war torn HBO response

I have always known about post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) but I never realized just how serious the effects are, or how widely its spread it is through returning veterans.  It is hard to just comprehend how devastating PTSD must be in order to affect so many people with such powerful symptoms and results.  In truth it scares me that so many people have been affected by it because it was in my plans to join the navy after college.  I now question whether I will be able to handle the effects of war and if I was to fight whether I would be affected by PTSD.  I still plan to enter the military and become a navy fighter pilot.
But I now wonder even if I was to survive the fighting and come back just how messed up would I be afterwards.  Would I never be able to operate in normally society again?  Would I keep reliving battles? Would I see the deaths of friends and enemies again every night?  Would I see things no one else sees?  Would I hear things no one else hears?  These questions make me question my resolve to serve in the armed forces but I still plan to join the navy knowing the risks.  In the end I hope the people who suffer from PTSD can overcome it, that the military set up a functioning system that helps the soldiers affected by PTSD.  Because I feel it is the military’s responsibility to care for the physical and mental well being to those who risked their lives.

Dear John Doe:
My name is Sean Coyle and I am a loyal customer. Normally, I am satisfied with your service but when I attended your luncheonette on the 20th of October I was never more appalled by the monstrosity you call a restaurant.

When I arrived at your restaurant that fateful Wednesday I was bombarded with illegal fireworks thrown by miscreants on the roof. I ducked inside your eatery in order to escape the barrage. As I entered I decided that since I was already here I would notify the hostess about the attack on your prospective patrons and request a table to wait at until they were dealt with.

I then made my way to the waiting room in which I found that all the seating was inhabited by your slumbering employees, who refuse to be disturbed. After standing in the waiting room for nearly an hour I went to talk to the hostess again who said to me “Oh your still here I forgot you wanted a table”. At that point I exited the restaurant to resume the bottle rocket onslaught. As I left that nightmare behind I was presented with new dread as I saw my car had been mortally maimed.

I demand that you pay for the damages to my car, the physical affliction I suffered as I was assaulted as well as the mental anguish that was caused. The total costs and compensation for my strife comes out $300,000.00. I also highly suggest that you talk with your staff.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. I look forward to hearing from you very soon. Please contact me at (480) 555-1666.

Sincerely,
Sean Coyle

Answers to "A Worn Path"

1) She went to buy a windmill for her son, who might be dead.

2)  As she walks Phoenix Jackson has to climb a high hill, her dress catches on a thorn bush and must pass through a barbed wire fence.

3) She gets some medicine for her grandson but says she came to buy a paper windmill and the story ends before she goes and buys it.

4) She overcomes many obstacles but she continues indentured with purpose and wills herself to go on. This symbolizes her burning as a phoenix which nothing can stop. As she reaches the end of her journey and stops at the pharmacy she becomes unresponsive and forgets why she came. those her flame is extinguished and nothing is left. Then as she hears about her grandson she rises from her ashes and finds new purpose in her journey and she begins her again.
